THE STUDY OF QURAN SERIES ON MILAD E NABI ( SA) 1443 H

The Study of Quran Series. Surah Al  Muddathhir(74)

Readers will recall that on 1st Rabi ul Awwal I had posted on the erudite and extensive study of QURAN spanning two decades of intensive research made by  Dr. Ahmad Bassam Saeh. (His Book in Arabic titled Al- Muj’izah )

MILAD E NABI ( SA) is the day to be awed and inspired and be blessed with barakat of reflection.
The forms of expressions  in the Quran are unique and different from the Arabic language which was spoken at the time when Quran was revealed as it is the WORD OF ALLAH. As soon as the process of revelation began, the Arabs who heard the Qur’an realized instinctively that everything relating to it suggested newness and singularity and out of the hundreds enumerated in his book, one Al Surah Muddathir will suffice to be reflected upon on this Milad E Nabi ( SA). I am indebted to Bhai Mohammad Rangoonwla for helping me in the compilation of 65 unique expressions in Arabic font. 

Of the 56 aya’ts a total of 65 expressions were never used by the Arabs before advent of Islam. !!  Awesome Indeed. The pre Islamic Arabs were renowned for their rich heritage of poetry and literature. 

The Quran challenges the  leading  poets, litterateurs, orators, linguists and geniuses to join forces to write a single small surah the length of Surah Al Doha (93)  or perhaps even the length of Surah Al – ASR  (103) Surah Al  Kawthar  (108) .It would only have been a matter of composing a single line, no more! 

The Quran openly challenges them not once but in two different Surahs  ( Surah al Baqarah and Surah Yunus) 

Dear Readers just pause here and reflect on this blessed day Milad E Nabi  ( SA). Would this have been so taxing for them? Wasn’t the Qur’an in their own language, and weren’t they masters of that very language? 

In this Surah Ayats 11 to 25 is in refrence to one of the staunch opponent of Nabi ( SA) al Walid ibn al Mughirah, a notable Quraysh leader of great wealth and also who had a mastery over Arabic language. 
He was awed by the message and uniqueness of Quran, but his ego, haughtiness and pride prevented him from accepting Islam. 

Dr. Ahmad Bassam had extensively studied all available poetry and literature resources of pre Islamic Arab language, and although much had been lost, what he studied was more than the Quranic text.

Ayats 21 – 23 picturised  eloquently – proving  that only the true Words of Allah can do caricatures of Walid’s reaction to Quran  – he frowned and scowled, waxed arrogant and disdained from truth.

THE TRUE EXTENT OF THE MIRACULOUSNESS MANIFESTED IN THE QUR’AN’S LINGUISTIC NEWNESS

 Dr Ahmad Bassem had this to say :  ‘When I set out to answer these questions by bringing the language of the Qur’an into my linguistic laboratory and placing its fabric under the microscope, I had no real conception of the type of challenge I had set myself. Never before had I realised, with complete confidence  and clarity, that behind every verse, behind every expression – and I might almost say, behind every word of the Qur’an there lies a miracle.So I bowed my head in awe at the lofty wisdom that lay concealed in this divine dare. ‘ 

Now the above quote is from a scholar who had spent years in research of the Arabic language predating the revelation of Quran, and also studying indepth the nuances of Quran.

Even the most common word  Al Rahman was not found in the very extensive study by the scholar in his study of Arabic language used in pre Islamic Arabia.

The list of 65 new expressions found in a single Surah Al Muddaththir
